Here at BZ FurFur we decided this year to honor all those moms with a tribute to mothers from all different cultures. We created a series of cutting boards that are inspired by all different countries and time periods:

• Tapuat: Represents the relations between mother and child
• Parvati: Indian goddess of purity, fertility, and beauty
• Yemaya: African Goddess of motherhood and the sea

• Gaia: Greek Goddess of the Earth
• Arabey: Caribbean ancestral mother of the Taino

Having reminders around the house of our spirituality is one of the greatest catalysts to incite our faith. This Easter think about putting up a few crosses around your home. Having beautiful, unique crosses in every room of your house ensures you always have something to remind you of God’s love and Jesus’ sacrifice.

Bringing your crosses to a priest is another way to bring greater spirituality into your home. Most priests will be more than happy to bless an item at the end of mass or at your request. It doesn’t need to be the most ornate cross, something simple might be all you need. You can even make them from materials around the house or wood blanks from the dollar store and use designs you find online to decorate them in meaningful ways.

You can also buy some beautiful unique crosses from our shop. We have several designs rooted in the Celtic culture that is hand-burned, hand painted, sealed, and blessed. If you want a unique and subtle reminder in your home of the importance of spirituality and faith you are welcome to order some for yourself or your loved ones.

The first shadowbox is a family tree. I come from a big family and the bonds that I have with my family across the country and across the world are strong. From my immediate family to all my extended family I understand how much those connections mean. This light-up shadowbox features a tree representing the many branches of a family and is customizable to say your family name or a simple “Love is”

The second design is a compass symbolizing how our fathers guide us on the right path. They are our mentors, our teachers, our coaches, and our navigators through life. With Father’s Day approaching what better way to remind your father how important he is to you than with one of these light-up shadow boxes personalized with his name.

The Harry Potter books are so well-known that you can hardly run into someone who doesn’t know which house they belong to, be it Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin. We have all taken the quizzes online and hemmed and hawed about which house we fall in. Whether we think we are brave like Harry, Ron, and Hermione or cunning like Malfoy we know where we feel we belong. Personally, I am a Ravenclaw and I carry that with pride .

My latest coaster set brandishes each of the house’s crests on beautiful hardwood permanently burned in and hand-painted with acrylics. Like all my pieces these are sealed in a heat-resistant, water-resistant polyurethane that will protect them from all kinds of spills so you can show your pride in your house for years to come. The Lord of the Rings has been a staple of our culture for almost 70 years. There is no debating the story’s popularity. Fans of the books from the last century, or the Peter Jackson movies from this century, this story holds a special place in our hearts. Tolkien’s lore has made its way into countless other media from film to games to comic books. It is hard to even imagine what the fantasy genre would look like today if it hadn’t been for Tolkien’s works.

To celebrate these stories we have created this beautiful coaster set that encapsulates some of the most memorable locations from Middle Earth. For anyone who is a fan of modern board games, Carcassonne is a name that is sure to remind you of countless nights with family and friends where you are trying to outsmart them as you build castles and litter the landscape with farmers, monks, robbers, and knights. For those who are uninitiated Carcassonne is a game of two to five players where you take turns drawing tiles that are then placed alongside other tiles as long as all adjacent tiles have matching city walls, fields, or roads. After doing so you can place a wooden figure on the board, called a meeple, to indicate that you are claiming that space which will score you points at the end of the game.

As fans of the game, we thought, what better way to show our appreciation for this ground-breaking game than by creating something that you can use at every game night: drink coasters. Using a few of the classic tiles and my trusty Razertip, watercolor markers and crayons, and polyurethane I was able to create a perfect homage to this fan-favorite game. After Brian shared the pictures of the coasters on Reddit it blew up. We got customers from as far as London, England requesting their own set of tiles. In one week we ended up making 20 sets of coasters and one specialty winter-themed coaster for one special someone’s birthday.

Little did we know that our little nod to a family favorite games would get so many people’s attention. Now that our orders are filled we will, once again, be taking orders for sets and hopefully adding some unique inspiration to family board game nights around the world.
